Joho Links Uhuru to His KCSE Result Slip Case

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has dragged President Uhuru Kenyatta into a case involving his academic certificates.

Arguing his case through lawyer James Orengo, Joho claimed that the President was behind the case in which he has been accused of forging his KCSE result slip.

According to Joho, his troubles started in March after Kenyatta vowed to teach him a lesson while launching Mtongwe ferry in Mombasa.

Orengo claimed that several State agencies had instituted investigations against Joho with an aim of barring him from defending the Mombasa gubernatorial seat.

"The utterances by Kenyatta directed to Joho, in March cannot be taken lightly, because the number of cases popping up from KRA, Kenya National Examinations Council, DPP and AG are all meant to find a basis to stop Joho from running for governorship,” alleged Orengo.

The Siaya Senator made his pronouncement during the proceeding of a case where the Governor sought orders to stop the police from arresting and prosecuting him for forgery.

The orders were extended to April 26 when Justice Eric Ogola would give his ruling on the matter.

Earlier in the month, Joho was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to explain his association with a fake KCSE result slip which he allegedly used to gain admission to the University of Nairobi (UoN).

It later emerged that the police were planning to charge the ODM deputy leader with forgery forcing him to seek the intervention of the court.
