Jubilee Accused of Trying to Stop Meeting Between Raila and Mudavadi

Fresh details have emerged on how senior Jubilee operatives hatched a secret plan to stop ODM leader Raila Odinga and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi from attending a joint political rally.

Jubilee leaders are reported to have sent three politicians, who have close ties to State House, to beseech Mudavadi not to accompany Odinga during the rally held last Tuesday.

Mudavadi had been invited to join Odinga at the homecoming rally of Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel (ODM) who had spent some time in jail over charges of incitement.

However, the public display of comradeship between Mudavadi and the ODM leader is reported to have worried Jubilee strategists and hence their efforts to ensure the ANC leader did not succeed.

“They particularly wanted to scuttle a public appearance between Musalia and Raila.  Of course, their overtures were disregarded,” an aide to Mr Mudavadi told the Nation.

The three Jubilee operatives, a nominated senator and two elected leaders from Kiambu County, are said to have organised a meeting in Lavington where they had planned to lure Mudavadi out of his trip.

Unfortunately, Mudavadi failed to show up the secret meeting as he had already decided to attend the rally in Laikipia.

Questioned on the matter, the ANC leader did not confirm or deny the plan, stating that such efforts would not have materialised.

“We are clear on what we want to achieve. We will not be distracted,” he stated.

Jubilee leaders, including Majority leaders Kithure Kindiki (Senate) and Aden Duale (National Assembly) have denied the secret plot and accused Mudavadi’s aides of making up a story to gain political mileage.
