Jubilee MPs Want Duale and Murkomen Out

A section of Jubilee Members of Parliament now want the Leader of Majority Adan Duale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen to step aside after they were mentioned in the National Youth Service scam.

Addressing the press statement at Parliament buildings on Wednesday, the MPs led by Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi asked the two (Duale and Murkomen) to leave office.

“Honourable Duale should resign immediately from being a leader of majority till he is proven innocent,” demanded Keter.

The MPs also want the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to direct immediate investigations on the persons mentioned in the affidavit former CS Anne Waiguru regarding the loss of Sh791 Million at the youth service department.

According to the damning affidavit, Duale and Murkomen threatened former Assistant Director of NYS Aden Harakhe, warning him of dire consequences should he fail to instruct the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to stop the probe.

The two have since denied any link in the saga with the Duale calling the affidavit 'remote and only meant to wreck the ruling coalition'.

“She is a small person in the Jubilee Coalition...we gave her a job, she stole public resources, we sacked her and is now she better wait for her fate with the corridors of court,” he stated.

Murkomen has also dismissed claims that his Law Firm - Sing’oei, Murkomen & Sigei Advocates - was contracted to provide supplies to the NYS.

He explained that his role in the scandal ended at providing Nairobi Businessman Ben Gethi with legal services during initial stages of investigations into the NYS scandal.
