Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale Warns Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka on Appointing Relatives to EALA

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Monday warned the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka against nominating their brothers and sons to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

According to the Senator, appointing relatives to EALA kills the spirit of inclusivity in the country.

In a tweet, Khalwale urged the leaders to be cautious and ensure all Kenyans are equally represented in all Government appointments.

I can't believe @RailaOdinga & @skmusyoka would ever dare imagine taking brother & son to EALA. It falls flat on the face on inclusivity

Earlier reports had indicated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had nominated Raila's elder brother Oburu Odinga whereas Wiper had nominated Kalonzo's eldest son Kennedy Musyoka for the EALA positions.

On Monday, Oburu, however, came out strongly to dismiss claims that he had been nominated to EALA because of his relationship with Raila stating that he had every right just like any other individual in Kenya, to apply and seek nomination for the seat.

“Raila does not make me, in fact, I am older than him, I joined politics before he did, I started as councillor when he was still a lecturer at the University of Nairobi. Raila being my brother is out of a biological accident,” Oburu stated.

He rubbished claims that he was clinging to his younger brother’s coat to get a softer landing after being defeated in the party’s primaries.
