Kalonzo Denies Claims He Escaped to Dubai to Avoid NASA Meeting

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has denied claims that he escaped to Dubai to avoid attending a crisis meeting that was to bring together the four National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals on Tuesday.

Speaking to a local daily from Dubai, where he was attending an investment forum organised by the Financial Times, Musyoka clarified that there was actually no meeting that had been planned.

“It’s ridiculous for anyone to say that a meeting that was neither planned nor scheduled flopped. If you ask me, this is all part of the propaganda being waged from all manner of directions to scuttle NASA. It is these plans that will flop, not our meetings,” Kalonzo told The Standard.

The Wiper Party leader described as “most unfortunate” the impression created by the Nation that a NASA meeting flopped after he ran away to Dubai.

In the media report, Kalonzo was said to have delayed his Dubai engagement until the day when the meeting was to be held.

He, however, stated that a meeting would be held before the weekend between him and his co-principals Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula.

“It is only now that we are scheduling a meeting, certainly before the weekend. I can tell you, I haven’t seen my brother Raila Odinga since he came back from the US. He came back and on the same day I flew to Dubai for this important meeting. We spoke by phone when I arrived here,” he said.

The NASA leaders are expected to meet and talk about the coalition’s welfare and put matters in perspective.

Meanwhile, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama who is a member of the NASA Coordinating Committee disclosed that the coalition has finally selected its presidential flagbearer who will be unveiled by end of this month.

“We have accomplished our duty and by the end of this month, we will have a date with Kenyans to tell them who will lead them towards the August 8 polls victory,” stated the senator.
