Kalonzo Threatens to Report Duale to ICC Over Audio Clip

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed to take National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the inflammatory audio clip calling for the eviction of Kambas in Garissa.

Speaking during a rite of passage ceremony at Kisaju in Isinya, Kajiado County, the CORD co-principal noted that if legal action would not be taken against Duale, then he will write to the Hague-based criminal court.

The former Vice President divulged that he would notify “the prosecutor that if atrocities occur in Garissa, Duale will have committed an offence under the international law.”

"Under international law, Duale can face counts of forceful evicitin and crime of genocide among others. We cannot watch a country governed through injustice by a few selfish individuals protected by the Government," Mr Musyoka said.

Mr Musyoka rubbished Duale's earlier claims that the recording had been manipulated to fit his voice by political rivals hell-bent on tarnishing his name.

"These days, it is very easy to match voices and authenticate, thus Duale should not attribute his troubles to his political competitors," the Wiper leader said.

He added that: "I want to challenge the security agencies and the Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure that Duale faces the law over tribal utterances. His move to dimiss the recording as malicious will not yield any fruit. Failure to take action against him is a glaring injustice being practiced by the Jubilee Government."

Pressure has continued to pile on the Majority Leader since the audio clip was widely shared on social media with a section of the public calling for his arrest.

National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chairman Francis Ole Kaparo noted that the body had launched investigations to establish the authenticity of the recording.
