Kenya is Back On CNN

The advertisement deal between the Kenyan Government and international broadcaster CNN that had been suspended in August, has been re-established. CNN will now carry "Make It Kenya" an advert which presents the re-branded Kenya.

Cabinet Secretary for East African Affairs ,Commerce and Tourism Phyllis Kandie said the "Make It Kenya" campaign, is a new international online marketing drive that would precede all other existing platforms that showcase Kenya’s tourism affluence and potential globally.

Grayling , a global Public Relations company contracted to spearhead the campaign through the Chief Executive Officer Loretta Ahmed, said that they plan to see the campaign through to its completion.

“There are quite a lot of campaigns in Kenya that start but do not finish. We need this one to be huge. We want this to be a campaign that has longevity and builds to become a national brand,” said Ahmed.

The first campaign is expected to be aired on the Nat Geo Channel.

CNN lost the deal with Kenya after referring to the state as a 'hotbed of terror' days to the United States President Barrack Obama's historical trip to the country.

However, the agreement was reinstated after the Managing Director of CNN Tony Maddox personally apologized to Kenya when he visited President Uhuru Kenyatta at Statehouse, Nairobi. This was after Kenyans took up war with the american-based broadcaster on twitter, to protest the phrase that according to them protrayed the country in a wrongful manner.
