Topics Trending in Kenya on February 6th

Here are the topics trending in Kenya on Monday:

#SinaiFire

Social media was abuzz after the High Court declined to award survivors of the 2011 Sinai fire tragedy a Sh25 Billion compensation they have been seeking.

The court instead directed the victims to file a suit seeking personal damages from Kenya Pipeline Company to prove their loss and establish liability.

Justice Edward Muriithi said that the court was sympathetic but that compensation was impossible since they did not file a proper suit.

“I am unable to find that the petitioner has made a case that shows a failure by the respondent to protect rights guaranteed by the constitution,” he said.

“It's not possible on the basis of the material before me to discern any failure on the part of the respondent to fulfil their constitutional obligations."

#DroughtMitigationKe

This topic began trending after the Council of Governors (CoG) directed each County to contribute Sh1 Million to the Kenya Redcross in a bid to fight drought.

A section of Kenyans online attacked the Senator claiming that he was always attacking Ruto because of his rise in the Rift Valley.

Another section took the opportunity to bash him stating that he was so confused that he could not make a decision between joining NASA and Jubilee.
