1. Kirua Mission Hospital
This trend started on Friday afternoon after news broke that Isiolo deputy OCS Oscar Situma had been found dead inside his home and his body was rushed to the Mission Hospital's mortuary.
2. #ElectionLaws
A debate on the contentious amendments to the Election Law resurfaced after the CORD Coalition held a press conference accusing Speaker Ekwe Ethuro of allowing unauthorised persons to vote in the House during debate on the regulations Thursday night.
Addressing the presser, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka divulged that the Coalition's leaders and aspirants would converge on January 11 to decide on the way forward.
3. Ex-MP Farah Maalim
Former MP Farah Maalim sparked an online debate after claiming that two people had been attacked in Garissa following the hateful remarks linked to National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale.
Maalim, together with other leaders from Garissa, demanded the police to carry out investigations on the inciteful remarks highlighting that the incident could spark violence in the country.
4. #ShauriMoyoPolice
Shauri Moyo Police Station became the subject of social media debate after a Nairobi resident complained that officers from the station had harassed and extorted money from him for failing to carry an ID card.
The complaint opened a floodgate for more online users to protest alleged intimidation and harassment by some notorious officers attached to the station.
Some even went ahead to give specific names of officers who they claimed were notorious for the heinous acts.
5. #MkenyaDaima
This trend was initiated by online users to provide a platform for Kenyans to share some of the moments and sectors in the country that had impressed them as well as share their expectations in the new year.
Hashtag MkenyaDaima kept scaling the trends ladder as more users weighed in to air their views on the ongoing doctors' strike especially after the medical practitioners rejected a 40 percent pay rise offered by the government.
6. MP Mark Too
Former nominated MP and Assistant Minister Mark Too, who passed on a week ago, was trending since his requiem mass was ongoing at AIC Milimani Church Nairobi.
Most Kenyans and friends of the deceased politician took to social media to pay tribute to the 64-year old fallen hero.
The trend was further fueled by reports that a woman seeking court orders to stop the burial of the ex-MP over a paternity row had withdrawn the case.
The deceased will be buried on Monday afternoon at his Kapseret home in Uasin Gishu County.
