Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi Warns President Uhuru Against Claiming Credit for Donor-Funded Projects

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto against claiming credit for projects in his County that will be paid for by the taxpayers.

Kingi spoke barely 24 hours ahead of President Kenyatta’s visit to Kilifi where he is expected to inspect the ongoing construction of the Sh4.1 Billion, 100KM Malindi-Sala Gate road before commissioning medical equipment at the Malindi Sub-County Hospital.

Governor Kingi said that President Kenyatta and Ruto have nothing to boast about the equipment, insisting it is a debt that the people of Kilifi will have to pay back to the national government.

Kingi, who is a strong supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga and a close ally to Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, stated that Kenyatta and Ruto had formed the habit of bragging about donor-funded projects that in the end turn to be a burden for taxpayers.

The warning is likely to draw parallels to an incident where Joho publicly criticised President Kenyatta in Bamburi for presiding over the launch of a project that had been started in 2010 through funds donated by the World Bank.
