Killer Nanny Disappears with Photos after Biting Baby

A househelp in Riruta area, Nairobi killed an 18- month-old and disappeared with the baby’s photos on Thursday.

The body of Mercy Nanzala was found neatly wrapped and tucked in her mother’s bed with deep bites on her thighs, back and cheeks.

The toddler's mother, Dorcas Manyasi narrated the abuse little Mercy had gone through in the hands of a nanny referred to her by a friend who claimed the suspect was her relative.

“I interrogated my son who revealed to me that Mercy had been hit against the table, slapped severally and even bitten,” Ms Manyasi said.

Ms Manyasi, who is a teacher at Bishua Childhood Education Center, divulged that on Wednesday she found her daughter’s fingers bleeding with her fingernails cut to the flesh.

It emerged that both Ms Manyasi and her friend did not know the real name of the killer house help, after the father confirmed, Edith Najendo, to be his daughter's identity.

“My daughter has the habit of disappearing mysteriously. Recently she went away for seven months before she re- surfaced,” the nanny’s father said.

It is reported that the suspect, who had been with the puzzled family for only a week, also made away with her employer's belongings.

Confirming the incident, Kabete OCPD Rashid Mohamed affirmed that efforts were underway to trace the whereabouts of the nanny.
