Kisii ODM chairman Samuel Omwando in Road Accident

An official of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party is nursing injuries after he was involved in a road accident on Sunday morning.

Kisii County ODM chairman Samuel Omwando’s vehicle is said to have collided with a 14-seater matatu at Kemera on Kisii-Nyamira road.

The ODM official was travelling to Kisii from Nakuru and was with his driver and two other passengers who reportedly escaped unhurt.

Mr Omwando’s son, Calvin Omwando, told the Nation that after the 5 am accident, his father was complaining of chest and back pains.

“We are currently at Tenwek hospital and we have not talked with him because doctors are attending to him,” he said.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to eDaily disclosed that the driver of the matatu, which was travelling to headed to Kericho from Nyamira, might have been drunk. They noted that the matatu rammed into the politician's vehicle.
