Larry Madowo Ranks His Trend Guests, from the Nice to the Nasty

NTV presenter Larry Madowo has revealed some behind-the-scenes happenings that characterised his popular show The Trend in 2016.

In his column on the Nation, Madowo revealed that one of the nasty interviews he conducted this year was with the Kenyan Oscar-winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o.

Madowo recalled that while previous interviews had gone well, the actress appeared bored and detached from the interview.

The observation by the NTV presenter was shared by a number of social media users in Kenya who accused Nyong’o of having a poor attitude towards African journalists even though she is always bubbly in her appearances on American stations.

So bad was the situation that the popular presenter was not allowed to complete the interview or even a photo-op as is routine in most interviews with celebrities.

“The interview ended abruptly when I asked about reports that she was a prima donna and I was ushered out without a picture,” Madowo stated in reference to the interview.

In his column, the Trend presenter went on to expose celebrities who disappointed his crew by confirming interviews and later reneging at the last minute.

Among those on this list of shame include Kenya’s Nyashinski, Nigerian music stars Flavour and gospel star Sinach.

However, Madowo also celebrated some of his favourite guests including South African jazz maestro Hugh Masekela, Jamaican singer Alaine Laughton, Nigeria’s Yemi Alade, Trey Songz, and Kenya’s football star Victor Wanyama.
