The festive season is here with us, a period that many Kenyans consider as the most enjoyable timeframe that starts on 12th December and ends after ushering the new year.
At Kenyans.co.ke, we have compiled a list of four things that will ensure that this festive season lives up to its name.
1. Work Leave
Most businesses and government organizations close up their operations during the last week of Christmas to ensure that their employees have time for the seasonal gatherings.
If your organization does not close during the season, make a point of getting a few leave days to ensure you don’t miss out on the fun.
2. Family time
The Kenyan tradition is such that families come together during the holiday season.
Whether it is a mbuzi choma event, a road trip, a visit upcountry, or perhaps to the coast – family is always at the centre of such plans.
In your holiday preparations, remember family togetherness is an important factor in ensuring a wonderful time.
3. Loaded ATM
As you enjoy the beautiful music at your local social club, admire the decorations at your house, choose the trendy outfits for your family, or when you are feasting on special foods - keep in mind that you will have to pay for the services.
However, observe the words of an ancient Greek philosopher, “if one oversteps the bounds of moderation, the greatest pleasures cease to please.”
‘Njaanuary’ is not fun.
4. Little Cab
Lastly, you will need to have a Kenyan mobile application known as Little that gives you access to affordable and comfortable taxi service.
This mobile app which available for free will come in handy if you wish to cut down your travel costs.
The application even allows you to get fare estimates to your preferred destination.
The charges are set at an affordable rate of Sh4 per minute and Sh30 per kilometre.
With as little as Sh190, you can get a taxi to move to your destination of choice.
During this ride, you will get free Safaricom-powered Wi-Fi, listen to your preferred FM radio station, and get to see live updates of your fares during the trip.
After you get to your destination, you will have the option of making a cashless payment through Safaricom’s Lipa Na M-Pesa.
Download the application on Google play, Windows store, and on Apple store.
