Lugari MP Ayub Savula to Vie For 2022 Presidential Race

A Member of Parliament (MP) allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) has joined the Presidential race, but for the 2022 General Election.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula, who is a member of the Amani National Coalition (ANC), has expressed interest in vying for the seat citing his development record.

He noted that as a young politician, he had the capacity to unite members of the Luhya community in order to get the country's top job.

“I have the energy and capacity to stage a strong campaign to push for national development and the empowerment of wananchi (citizens). I helped NASA register millions of voters and I am confident that Western has numbers. We just need to unite and continue working together as a family to win the top seat,” affirmed Savula .

The ANC deputy leader further added that as one of the youngest MPs, he had an impressive track record including construction of colleges.

"I am the only MP who has constructed six national colleges in the six wards in his constituency. My strategy with the CDF team was simple - to see the region empowered to compete effectively against other regions and the world at large," he stated.

He further urged the Opposition to name its Presidential candidate for the August 8 General Election.

Savula was reiterating an announcement he made in 2015 when he first expressed his intention to vie for the seat.

“I have been telling you about the 7 million voters target in Western, Trans Nzoia included. The dream is becoming a reality and believe me, I will be vying for the president in 2022,” he declared.
