Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Clarifies He Only Supports President Uhuru Kenyatta and Not Jubilee

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who was expected to lead Jubilee campaigns in Ukambani region has clarified that his party Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) is not in Jubilee and he does not support the President's party.

Mutua stated that he only supports Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid as he only works with leaders with whom he shares the same ideals.

"It is impossible to support a competing party. We are neither in Jubilee nor NASA coalitions, " Mutua stated adding that his party would field candidates for other elective positions to compete with Jubilee.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader was speaking in a series of rallies in Machakos town, Ngelani, Mua and Mutituni to drum up support for his party candidates who are set to battle it out with Jubilee and other candidates in the general election.

Jubilee party will be relying heavily on Alfred Mutua to make inroads in the Ukambani region, which is perceived to be opposition principal Kalonzo Musyoka's home turf and National Super Alliance (NASA) stronghold.

He also disclosed that the party and the region stand to benefit immensely from appointments to senior positions in the government as promised by Uhuru.

Mutua had earlier disclosed that the party would support Uhuru Kenyatta as the party did not have a presidential candidate.

He also dismissed his rivals terming them as lacking an agenda for the voters.

Mutua and Kalonzo have in the past been engrossed in supremacy battles for the control of the Ukambani vote block.
