Mama Ngina Kenyatta Reveals Pain of Seeing Uhuru at ICC

Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has come out to speak on the emotional pain she endured during the period when her son President Uhuru Kenyatta was attending his case at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague.

Mama Ngina made the confession during a family thanksgiving service that was held at St Gabriel's Catholic Mission Church in Gatundu South.

“I used to cry myself to sleep wondering how he (Uhuru) would be jailed but God delivered him. For that I am grateful,” she revealed.

She added that her son’s ‘harassment’ by the ICC was the hardest moment for her but thanked God for the termination of the cases.

The former first lady further thanked Kenyans for their prayers, adding that God had heard the prayers and allowed the country to overcome its challenges.

She urged the youth to register in large numbers and for the country to pray for a peaceful election process in 2017.

The Kenyatta family extended thanksgiving for the health of their matriarch Mama Ngina, revealing that she had not been able to walk for about five months as a result of a knee injury that has since healed.

On his part, Uhuru stated that he was grateful to God for giving strength to their mother in all the challenges she had faced.

The thanksgiving ceremony was also attended by other members of the first family including Margaret Kenyatta, Uhuru’s son Jomo and his newlywed wife Achola Ngobi, and daughter Ngina.

They were accompanied by family friends and local politicians allied to the Jubilee coalition.
