A matatu driver was burnt to death by a mob in Ruiru, Kiambu county after allegedly stealing goats.
The suspect, according to the mob, had raided a home Tuesday night in the company of his conductor and made away with the animals.
The early Wednesday morning incident took place when the angry mob waylaid the duo just before the Eastern bypass, Citizen News reports.
The conductor is said to have escaped leaving the driver behind to face the wrath of the mob.
The residents beat the suspect senseless before torching him.
Cases of people being beaten, most of the time to death by mob are not uncommon in Kenya.
Despite the act being against the law, few people are prosecuted as it is often hard to point out the exact persons who perpetrate the violence.
