Man in Court Over Dead KDF Soldiers Photos

A man was on Tuesday charged at a court in Kiambu for allegedly posting photos of Kenyan soldiers who were killed in the Friday attack on an AMISOM base in El-Adde, Gedo.

The accused, Eddy Reuben Illah, was arrested on Monday after Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery warned the public against circulating images of the fallen soldiers on the internet.

Reuben is reported to have posted the images on a Whatsapp group account dubbed 'A young people union', charges that he denied.

The Presiding Magistrate released the suspect on a Sh100,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh50,000 after his lawyer failed to convince the court that the offence was minor.

The Court adjourned with the next hearing set for February 12.

CS Nkaissery had earlier indicated that circulation of images from the attack would not be tolerated, adding that it was unpatriotic.

"I have directed the Inspector General of Police to apprehend those circulating images of the attack on El Adde," he said.
