Man Who Hang on Raila's Chopper in Meru County Arrested

A man, who caused drama in Meru County on Thursday after he clung on ODM Leader Raila Odinga’s chopper, has been arrested.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a source on the ground divulged that the man, only identified as Julius Rigo was traced to his home in Kangeta, Igembe Central and nabbed by police officers on Friday morning.

The source also disclosed that the man had been apprehended by police officers on numerous occasions.

Mr Rigo shocked locals during Odinga’s tour in Meru when he held the plane's landing skid as it left Maili Tatu grounds in Igembe Central, after a vote-hunting tour by the Opposition leader.

The daring man safely sat on the skid as it lifted into the air and flew for some metres as the plane gained momentum.

After the daring ride, Mr Rigo was dropped at Athima Primary school grounds in an emergency landing.

In 2016, a Bungoma man hit headlines after hanging on a similar plane and flew for close to a hundred metres before falling off.

41-year-old Saleh Wanjala, a boda-boda rider, dropped from the plane that had delivered the body of slain businessman Jacob Juma in Bungoma.

After falling from the plane, Wanjala was rushed to hospital following the injuries he had sustained.
