MCA Found With Illicit Brew

Residents of Kiambu were shocked when a Member of County Assembly (MCA) who has been on the forefront in fighting illicit brew was arrested for possessing the illegal alcohol in his house.

Riabai MCA, Martin Wachira, has been vocal against illegal brews and spoke passionately against it when the president visited the area.

His double talk finally caught up with him when a tip off led police officers to his residence where an assortment of drinks were nabbed, The Standard reports.

Some of the drinks were destroyed by the public, the rest taken to the government chemist for testing.

His arrest caused quite a stir with his constituents who saw the MCA's actions as talking the talk but not walking the walk.

When news of his arrest spread, they gathered at the Kiambu Police Station where he was taken.

Colleagues also thronged the station as they tried to get the charges dropped.

Wachira, had during a visit by the president accused local leaders of preventing the fight against illicit brew.

He was arraigned in court today.
