Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho Accuses Government of Selling Mombasa Port to Arabs

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has revealed how the Jubilee Government has contributed to poverty in several parts of Kenya.

Speaking during the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Delegates Convention on Friday, Joho accused the Jubilee regime of oppressing residents in the Coast region, adding that plans were underway to sell the Port of Mombasa to Arabs at over Sh26 Billion.

He further accused the government of planning to move the port's operations to someone's private land in Naivasha, a move that is meant to transfer the proceeds from the Mombasa Port to Nakuru County.

"We will not allow that if we (NASA) get into power," he reiterated.

In March, Opposition leader Raila Odinga alleged that the government irregularly leased out the running of Mombasa port's second container terminal.

The ODM leader alleged that a tender to run the terminal was awarded to a United Arab Emirates operator instead of a deserving Japanese bidder.

Joho also tore into President Uhuru Kenyatta by claiming that his government was to blame for the collapse of various industries in Western Kenya, including Mumias Sugar and Nzoia Sugar.

"Milk prices are on the rise because they have sold Milk to Uganda in order to get sugar in return," he stated.
