According to a survey carried out by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA), 44 per cent of Nairobi resident intend to enjoy dinner with their special valentine date.

The research further revealed that only 2 per cent of the City dwellers plan to make a trip to another county.

The study also established that only 46 per cent plan to celebrate the equally anticipated and dreaded day.

"The survey indicates that more women (51%) are likely to celebrate Valentines Day as compared to males (47%)," the report read in part.

Despite the extremely luxurious offers by a number of hotels in Nairobi, most couples according to the report, will be thrifty during the Valentine's day.

"Nairobians intend to spend an average Sh1,650 on this day on gifts," revealed the study.
