MP's Bodyguard Shot Dead in Nairobi

Ndaragwa MP Francis Nderitu's bodyguard was shot dead on Monday night along Kariobangi Roundabout, Nairobi in a robbery gone wrong.

Starehe OCPD Bernard Nyakwaka stated that the deceased was driving home from work when he was attacked by gunmen who were stealing from motorists along the roundabout.

The gang is said to have intended to rob Sergeant Daniel Mwangi, but he refused to open the window forcing them to shoot him twice on the shoulder. The bullets made their way to his lungs causing serious injuries.

He was rushed to Huruma Nursing Home and later to Kenyatta National Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the OCPD, the bodyguard's pistol was found tucked on his waist, intact with 14 bullets.

The gangsters were reportedly robbing motorists of their mobile phones and cash but escaped the scene without stealing from the fallen officer.

Police in the area have since launched a manhunt for the criminals.

Robbery in the area is said to be on the rise with the police struggling to contain it.
