Mudavadi is Being Used by Jubilee - Wetangula Claims

CORD co-principal and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has sensationally claimed that ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is being used by President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party to weaken and bring confusion to the Opposition.

Speaking on Monday in Lugari, Mr Wetangula alleged that Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli was financed by Jubilee to make Mudavadi the Luhya spokesman in a bid to split the western votes.

"If Mudavadi is seriously interested in teaming up with CORD, he should focus on the agenda and forget about associating himself with Atwoli, who is engaged in political business," Mr Wetang'ula stated.

Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, who had accompanied Wetangula, further alleged that after Atwoli installed Mudavadi as Luhya spokesman, he travelled to Mombasa County where he had a secret meeting with President Kenyatta.

"Mudavadi wants to be used by Jubilee. If he wants to survive, he should stop associating himself with Atwoli," Khalwale affirmed.

However, through his spokesman Kibisu Kabatesi, Mudavadi refuted the claims stating that he was focused on sending the ruling coalition home.

"Mudavadi has taken his endorsement seriously and is interested in unifying the community rather than engaging in shouting matches with any leaders," said Mr Kabatesi.

A section of Luhya leaders has opposed the idea of Mr Mudavadi being the community spokesman claiming that they were not consulted before his installation on the eve of New Year.

Meanwhile, the ANC leader and CORD principal Raila Odinga are spearheading the formation of the National Super Alliance (NASA) which is expected to be a grand alliance comprising various Opposition leaders.
