Fake doctor James Mugo Ndichu aka Mugo Wa Wairimu has been released from prison on a Sh5 Million bond after depositing a title deed in court.
The “doctor” who was accused of raping a patient at his Githurai 44 clinic, has been in custody for two weeks after failing to raise the alternative Sh1 Million cash bail.
Upon verification of the Sh5 Million bond, the prison authorities were ordered by Senior Principal Magistrate Joyce Ghandani to release the suspect.
“I have verified the title deed presented by the accused herein. It has been certified by the relevant government department as genuine,” Ms Ghandani said.
A request by the prosecution to deny the accused bond was turned down by Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo claiming that they had failed to provide compelling evidence.
Mugo Wa Wairimu was arrested on September 10 in Limuru after police launched a man hunt following a video that aired on national T.V showing a man sedating a woman before raping her on a hospital bed.
The hearing and determination of the case will be on November 23.
