Muthama, Musila Walk Out of Musyoka's Meeting Over Kitui Governorship Comments

The relationship between Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka appears to be souring by the day if the tension in their public meetings is anything to go by.

On Tuesday, Muthama staged a dramatic walkout from a public meeting that Musyoka had organised to mobilise his supporters in Kitui County to register as voters.

Trouble started after the Wiper Party leader asked Kitui Senator and gubernatorial aspirant David Musila, a close ally of Muthama, to work with area Governor Julius Malombe so that the two can each retain their seats.

The comments did not go down well with Musila’s camp as it was seen as an endorsement of the incumbent by the party leader, even though the two will be battling for the Wiper ticket later in the year.

Musila was joined by Muthama and a number of MPs in their camp including Makali Mulu (Kitui Central), Marcus Muluvi (Kitui East) and Charles Nyamai (Kitui Rural), as they staged a dramatic walkout from the procession at Mutomo, Kitui South.

Musyoka was only left with only two elected leaders, Malombe, and Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu.

Musila’s camp would later attack their party leader, accusing him of turning the voter mobilisation exercise into a partisan campaign for Malombe’s re-election.

Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu is also among leaders who have declared interest in the Kitui gubernatorial seat.
