A businessman in Nairobi on Wednesday published a full page letter to President Kenyatta, on a National newspaper, seeking for his intervention after his premise was allegedly raided by the Administration Police (AP's) costing him Sh20 Million worth of goods.
Mukhtar Ahmed stated that for 35 years, he had been doing business in electronics, under the entities, Bargain Electronics and Parker Radio House before he got a surprise visit from 10 administration police officers and 30 civilians on Saturday 3rd October.
“The police produced a court order that was not genuine since it had been sealed 3 months before the application date. I tried to reason with them but they refused and threw all my delicate electronic goods like garbage into a waiting lorry,” read the letter in part.
In his message to the President, the aggrieved businessman gave an account of how he got a call from his security guards on Sunday 3.00am informing him that the same officers came back with civilians and removed all the doors in his business premises.
He then contacted the Nairobi Area Control Room immediately, but unfortunately the officers dispatched got there too late.
Mr Ahmed further wrote that 20 administration police officers came back on Monday 5th October, armed with 30 civilians who “forcibly” removed him and his collegues from the premises and “brutally assaulted him.”
“When sealing the premises, my lawyer arrived with a court order restraining anyone from interfering with my occupancy in the premises,” read the letter.
Mr Ahmed claimed he had contacted three senior persons in the Adminisatration Police Service but action is yet to be taken.
He sought for the President's indulgence in the matter, stating that the impunity committed by police is done on a daily basis with no respect to the law.
“Finally, Your Excellency I ask you as the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces to take decisive action on the officers who have made my life a living hell over the past 4 days,” read his request.
The National Police Service spokesperson George Kinoti on Wednesday said the businessman’s complaints would be looked into.
