A couple died on Sunday morning after falling into a pit while running after each other in Nairobi's Kangemi area.
The incident is said to have happened after the two engaged in a quarrel inside their house, forcing the woman to escape when the argument escalated.
Peter Nyamache then reportedly run after Clarence Chepkurui, his wife, towards an area that had an open latrine.
According to a witness, Chepkirui then slipped and fell into the 12-feet deep pit that had previously been used as a sewage.
It is suspected that the husband then fell into the same manhole while trying to get hold of his wife after which they both drowned.
Workers from Nairobi County were called in to retrieve the bodies which were later taken to City Mortuary with a huge crowd milling around the area.
Police assured that they would go after the owner of the latrine which had been left uncovered for long despite calls by residents for regular inspection to be conducted in the estate to avoid such calamities.
