NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua Warns Former CS Anne Waiguru of Tough Battle Ahead of The August Polls

Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant Martha Karua has warned her arch-rival for the seat, former devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, not to get comfortable ahead of the August 8 polls.

The National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) Kenya party leader warned that a tough battle for the seat was in the offing and Waiguru should not rejoice yet after winning the Jubilee nomination ticket.

Karua highlighted that she was not part of the nomination exercise and had she been on the ballot, she would have trounced Waiguru.

“I am ready to take Kirinyaga governor’s seat, those who won during party nominations should not celebrate yet, I was not part of the nominations and if I were, I would still have emerged the winner,” warned Karua.

She noted that her past leadership legacy offered her a unique position to become the second Kirinyaga governor and was confident that she will defeat Ms Waiguru.

The outspoken ‘Iron Lady of Kenyan politics’ remarks came hours after her NARC Kenya party endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto’s re-election bid.

Waiguru a strong contender for the seat had beaten the incumbent governor, Joseph Ndathi for the Jubilee ticket after garnering a massive 100,632 votes against his 17,085.
