Police investigations in the rape case against fake gynaecologist Mugo wa Wairimu, who is accused of sedating and raping his patients, seem to be suffering a set back.
Reports have emerged, indicating that only two women have recorded police-statements with regards to the case. One woman claimed that Mugo took her title deed when she failed to pay her hospital bill and another one said she remembered being sedated but does not recall being raped.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, however, the victims who leveled the accusation on national TV have failed to record statements at CID headquarters.
Police sources, according to The Star, revealed that they are yet to receive tangible evidence linking the doctor to the rape allegations conducted at the illegal Zimmerman and Githurai 44 clinics.
“To secure a conviction, investigations have to acquire proof beyond reasonable doubt,” said the police.
Meanwhile, the quack medic was on Monday taken for mental check-up at Mathari Hospital in Nairobi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) appointed detectives from the Serious Crimes unit who are yet to establish the “doctor's” psychological state.
Mugo wa Wairimu was apprehended on September, 10 after a manhunt was launched on him by the police.
