Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura Defeated By Simon Ng'ang'a in Ruiru Jubilee Nominations

Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Isaac Mwaura on Wednesday lost his bid to be Jubilee candidate in Ruiru constituency after he was defeated by Simon Ng'ang'a King'ara.

Mwaura emerged a distant third in the contest after garnering 4,632 votes against King'ara's 10,900 votes. Incumbent MP Esther Gathogo was second with 7,340 votes.

The MP in a statement to newsrooms conceded defeat, congratulated the winner and wished him all the best.

"To all my supporters, let us support the winner Simon Ng'ang'a King'ara of whom I called at 4.11 am and congratulated him.

"I wish him well in serving the people of Ruiru and wish to assure him of my full support in exercising his mandate, for leadership almost invariably, has the capacity to transform society," Mwaura's statement read in part.

The Legislator promised to stand with Jubilee and urged all his supporters to stand with the President and his deputy in their re-election bid.

"To all my supporters let us now join hands in consolidating the jubilee presidential votes towards the August general elections in order to ensure that President Uhuru Kenyatta and our deputy William Ruto secure a 2nd term," Mwaura stated.

Mwaura ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in August 2016 stating that the decision to join the Jubilee party was the will of the Ruiru people which he had to respect.

Last week, Mwaura hit headlines after he recorded a statement at Ruiru police station claiming that there had been an assassination attempt against him. He accused his opponent King'ara of planning the alleged assassination, a claim that the Ruiru Police Boss refuted.
