NTV's Channel Shut Down

The Nation Media Group on Friday lost NTV Kenya's YouTube channel after it was shut down over copyright infringement claims.

NTV Kenya has been terminated because we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted,” reads the YouTube message when trying to access the channel.

The media company suffered a big blow as it had a total of 280,894 subscribers with 50,775 videos uploaded on the online platform.

Following the slap by YouTube, NTV Kenya will not be able to create new accounts.

According to YouTube Community guidelines, a channel receives two warnings before the account is officially terminated.

Nonetheless, the video sharing platform allows one to appeal the decision to axe a channel if one believes that it was unfairly closed.

The company has three options which include; waiting for 6 months until the expiry of the strike, contact the complainants and request them to retract the claim of copyright infringement or submit a counter notification.

The global video sharing website also flags videos and dismisses channels over reports of nudity or sexual content, violent or graphic content, harmful or dangerous content, hateful content, threats, spam, misleading metadata, or scams.

After the termination, NTV directed viewers to Daily Nation YouTube account to watch videos.
