Odinga has Threatened me After I declined to Fund His Party - Dominion CEO Calvin Burgess Claims

Dominion Farms Ltd CEO Calvin Burgess has asked for security from the Government after claiming that he had received threats from ODM leader Raila Odinga and other politicians affiliated to the Opposition leader.

Mr Burgess, whose firm is Nyanza’s largest agriculture investor, claimed that he had received extortion, violence and eviction threats after he declined to finance Odinga’s ODM party.

The CEO further alleged that the politicians had hired goons to beat him up and frustrate his business in the area located in Yala Swamp, Nyanza County.

In a letter dated February 7 and directed to Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet, the Dominion boss has requested the Interior Ministry to deploy security officers for him and the firm for protection from the “hired goons”.

He further alleged that the former Prime Minister had forcibly made Leonard Otieno Oriaro an MCA in the area so that he could frustrate Dominion.

Mr Burgess claimed that at one point, he was forced to flee to the US after Oriaro hired goons to beat him up and his employees on three occasions.

“Mr Oriaro ... demanded more land, claiming it was ancestral, despite being aware that it was a lake bottom before reclamation,” Mr Burgess sadi.

The CEO also claimed that Siaya Governor Cornell Rasanga had threatened to take the land from his company due to his stand against funding the Orange party.

The Dominion CEO has urged the government to take action against the politicians stating that his company will not fund any political party since it's against the US policy.
