Orange Democratic Movement Leaders Claim Migori County Governor Okoth Obado Is Behind Migori Chaos

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho survived an attempt on his life after his car was shot at three times during chaos that erupted in Migori County and leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have revealed who was behind the attacks.

Prior to the event, Migori County Governor Okoth Obado had warned ODM leaders against holding a rally in Migori town.

The rally that was initially scheduled to take place at Migori Stadium was moved to Posta grounds after Obado and county police bosses blocked the venue using armed police.

The leaders then moved the event to the nearby Posta grounds where governor Obado stormed with armed police and militia causing chaos.

He arrived as Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o was addressing the crowd and the crowd jeered him.

His bodyguards then fired in the air and a melee ensued.

Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed accused Obado of being behind the attacks and also claimed that his actions prove that he had decamped to Jubilee Party.

“Governor Obado must explain why he chose to disrupt a gathering attended by top ODM leadership. This has confirmed to us that he is in Jubilee,” he remarked.

His sentiments were echoed by Siaya Senator James Orengo who stated that all was well until Obado and a group of yoth stormed the venue.

It is alleged that Obado was opposed to the meeting because he feared it would give mileage to Ochilo Ayacko, his political rival.

Migori County CID boss Benedict Kigen also revealed that he had advised the Migori Governor  not to attend the rally because of the ensuing tension, but the governor went ahead to attend the meeting.
