PAC Recommends for Prosecution of Murkomen Over NYS Scandal

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has recommended that Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen be prosecuted in connection with the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

In a report tabled before the National Assembly on Thursday, PAC called for action against the Senator and other individuals at the Sing'oei, Murkomen and Sigei Advocates.

Murkomen and his team are accused of failing to submit important documents which were to be used in investigations into the scandal as reported by the Nation.

The Committee also recommended for a lifestyle audit to be conducted on former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, and if found guilty of the scandal, be barred from holding any public office.

“Ms Anne Mumbi Waiguru be barred from holding public office, if found guilty after due process, in light of her overall leadership failures at the Ministry,” read part of the report.

The report, seen by Kenyans.co.ke, also ordered that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations begin fresh probe over abuse of office by the former CS.

PAC further called for an audit of top officials at the Devolution Ministry for the past years adding that the results should be made public by end of December this year.
