Pastor Arrested Over Shooting of 10-month-old baby

A man and his four children were shot dead in Bungoma after attackers raided their home on Thursday night following a supposed land dispute that ensued in the family.

The suspected attackers who were arrested by police include a pastor, and nine relatives of the deceased.

Stephen Wanjala, a father of seven, died instantly beside his children among them a 10-month-old baby, one-year-old, four-year-old and a 13-year-old.

The wife and the rest of the children escaped the ghastly incident after playing dead while lying on the smeared blood waiting for the attackers to leave.

Police claimed that the animosity which was brought about by land disputes, began after the mysterious death of Bramuel Lumbuku a member of the family, who was allegedly poisoned.

“Why would you kill innocent children in the name of inheriting land? That is very wrong,” said Bungoma County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim.

Police have launched investigations to discover more suspects involved in the incident.
