PHOTOS: 23 Ethiopians Busted In Nairobi Hideout

Police officers in Kahawa West estate, Nairobi, have arrested 23 foreigners who were hiding at a residential house in the area.

Heavily armed officers on Wednesday morning busted the Ethiopian nationals at a house near Kamae Administration Police Post, after residents protested following the shooting of a boda-boda rider.

Authorities were forced to shoot in the air to control a huge crowd which threatened to lynch the foreigners accusing them of operating as criminals.

The 23 are said to have arrived into the country earlier in the week, stopping over in Nairobi, in a human trafficking syndicate suspected to be operating in the country.

Earlier on, residents led by the motorcycle riders demonstrated after one of their own was shot dead in unclear circumstances on Tuesday night.

The Deputy County Commissioner Kennedy Changandu said the foreigners who were accused of criminal activities would be arraigned in court.

"One of the boda-boda operators was killed and the residents were accusing (the Ethiopians) of being involved," he confirmed.
