Chaos erupted in Bomet County on Thursday afternoon following the killing of popular Kalenjin musician Chelele (Diana Chemutai) whose body was found on Saturday morning at her home.
The unrest was sparked when Chelele's husband, Eric Musila who is an ex police officer, was brought in the town to be held in police custody after the Kericho court charged him with the murder of the artist.
Tension heightened as angry residents barricaded the roads bringing businesses to a standstill.
Police engaged the locals protesting the death of one of their own in running battles for the better part of the afternoon.
On the material day, Bomet Police OCPD, Abel Sande, said they were called by Ms Chelele's sisters who had been looking for her since she disappeared. Moments later, they found her body at her disserted home in Kapkwen Village in Chepalungu costituency.
