Business came to a standstill in Kitengela, Kajiado County after residents fought over land.
Trouble started when traders rioted over allocation of space at the local market.
Anti riot police were called in after two groups from different communities both claimed ownership of the land in which the market is supposed to be located on.
Several people were injured as men carrying crude weapons threw stones, destroying property of unknown value.
