PHOTOS: Kidero Finally Bows to Garbage Pressure

Following heavy criticism and public outrage regarding garbage menace in Nairobi, Governor Evans Kidero has finally bowed to pressure and ordered a clean up of the city.

Through a statement posted on his facebook, the Governor noted that he was aware of the deteriorated environmental situation in Nairobi and admitted that management of litter was a challenge to his administration.

“I have with immediate effect directed my County Executive for Environment, Evans Ondieki and his Chief Officer, Dr Leah Oyake and the Environment team to ensure waste and litter within Nairobi City and its environs is cleared within the next three days,” read the statement in part.

Kidero however, urged residents of Nairobi to act responsibly when disposing solid waste.

The Governor came under strong heat when Kenyans descended on him for the better part of last week, complaining about poor waste management by the county government while others questioned his development record since he was elected in 2013.
