The oldest member of the Kenyan Senate finally graduated with a doctorate degree at the 54th graduation of Nairobi University.

On Friday morning, Laikipia Senator G. G. Kariuki was conferred with a Doctorate of Philosophy in International Studies, at an event that was full of pomp and colour.

76-year-old Kariuki could not hide his joy in the new achievement, posing for photos with fellow graduates.

University of Nairobi Vice-Cancellor Prof Peter Mbithi congratulated G.G Kariuki, citing that age should not be a limit to scaling higher heights in education.

The Legislator is a former Member of Parliament of Laikipia West who served during both President Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi regimes.

In July, Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko also graduated from Kenya Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, a moment which united him with Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
