Grudge Takes Backseat as Kidero Congratulates Sonko Ahead of Graduation

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko publicly shared a moment of cordial friendship on social media as Kidero sent Sonko a congratulatory message via a Facebook update.

The Governor on Thursday evening posted “Congratulations are in order Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko as you prepare to graduate tomorrow! You have walked a long way to reach this goal. You are truly an inspiration and demonstration to all that hard work and dedication does pay. We are very proud of you and well done!”

A little while later, Sonko shared the picture on his wall, thanking Kidero for the message.

In a different post, Sonko however sought to clarify that his graduation is on Saturday- July 18 and not Friday- July 17 as Kidero had erroneously stated in the congratulatory message.

The Senator is set to graduate from the Kenya Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

He has previously shared pictures of him in class via social media.

Some may view the acquiring of a degree as a strategic move by the Senator who is said to be eying Nairobi Governorship as the law requires one to at least have a degree to be viable for the position.

Sonko has however in the past rubbished the claims, saying the reason for going to school was to sharpen his skills.

The friendly exchange on Facebook by the two leaders comes after a strained relationship between the two which has seen them trade accusations and counter- accusations on public forums.

Recently, Sonko publicly criticized Kidero who was with him and other leaders on the podium, during a visit to Gikomba after a fire gutted down the market.

He admonished the governor for allegedly saying that he (Sonko) was a drug dealer.
