A major shift in leadership awaits at the Kenya Revenue Authority, which has re-advertised 13 senior roles.
In an official notice on MyGov on Tuesday, July 22, KRA announced that it was re-advertising the positions that it had originally posted on 17 July but then cancelled.
"Kenya Revenue Authority wishes to notify the general public that the job vacancy advertisement published on 17th June, 2025, on MyGov, inviting applicants for the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner positions, has been re-advertised. Please Note: Those who had earlier applied need not reapply," the notice reads in part.
The positions re-advertised include one commissioner position and twelve deputy commissioner positions.
The tax authority is looking for a Commissioner for Micro and Small Taxpayers, alongside Deputy Commissioners for Trade Facilitation, Micro and Small Taxpayers, Tax Dispute Resolution, Revenue Monitoring, Enforcement and Prosecution.
Other advertised deputy commissioner positions are in the following areas: business transformation and digital engineering; risk management; supply chain management; audit and risk; information security and data governance; infrastructure management; and international tax.
"Interested candidates are requested to visit PKF website for full job descriptions and specifications and submit online applications by Monday, 11th August, 2025, 23:59hrs EAT," the job notice continued.
In a previous public press release dated July 21, KRA announced that this recruitment effort aligns with the agency’s 9th Corporate Plan, which outlines key goals in organizational efficiency and talent acquisition under its Key Result Areas (KRAs).
“This move marks a critical step in reinforcing our internal capacity and sustaining excellence in public service,” the statement read.
According to KRA, the new recruitments will bring fresh energy to the organization and help build a workforce that reflects Kenya’s diversity and embraces values of competitiveness and equity in public service hiring.
"This transformation will enhance the capacity of KRA's workforce, which is currently over 9,000 staff, bolstering the organization's ability to navigate the complexities of tax administration, respond swiftly to emerging challenges, and consistently deliver high-quality services," the presser continued.
The changes also come just 5 months after the Authority unbundled the Domestic Taxes department into two, and barely a month after the taxman registered a growth in its revenue collection.
