Political Parties Dispute Tribunal Bars Wiper From Presenting Wavinya Ndeti's Name to IEBC

The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal has barred Wiper Party from presenting Wavinya Ndeti's name to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as the party's candidate for the Machakos gubernatorial race.

This came after it was discovered that the votes cast during the party's repeat nominations reportedly exceeded the number of registered Wiper party members in the county.

There were also claims of ballot stuffing and rigging in favour of Ndeti during the repeat polls.

The former Kathiani MP who beat the county deputy governor Bernard Muia Kiala for the second time will have to wait a little longer to know if she will fly the Wiper ticket.

The entry of Ndeti into the race caused discomfort in Wiper with Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama accusing party boss Kalonzo Musyoka of imposing leaders on supporters.

The decision comes a day after the deadline for political parties to present the names of their candidates passed.

With this new development, the party might be forced to go back to the drawing board to figure out who will battle it out with incumbent governor Alfred Mutua for the seat.
