President Uhuru Kenyatta Criticised After Comparing Jubilee Legacy With the Opposition's

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday elicited fierce reactions on social media after sending out a tweet that seemingly rubbed a cross section of Kenyans the wrong way.

While on a working tour of the central Kenya region which came to an end yesterday, Kenyatta stated  that he had asked residents of Kerugoya "to compare Jubilee's development track-record with that of the opposition."

"Addressed residents of Kerugoya and asked them to compare Jubilee's development track-record with that of the opposition," the head of state tweeted.

The tweet got many Kenyans questioning how President Kenyatta expected to be assessed on the same platform with the Opposition  yet he was the one in office with all the elements of power including a trillion plus budget.

@UKenyatta the opposition to develop what using what budget? You are taking your fellow kikuyus for fools; as expected!

@UKenyatta That's not fair. The opposition is not in government: that's why they are the opposition!

@UKenyatta are you serious? We will vote for @RailaOdinga first and then compare his record with yours by 2021

@UKenyatta Wait, how much was allocated for the opposition to carry out development? #RailaPhobia

@UKenyatta #RealityCheck: the Jubilee govt collects, allocates &superintends taxes. Jubilee govt is responsible for devt or lack there of

@UKenyatta totally makes no sense. How do we compare what the opposition has done with no budget and what you have done with 3 trillion?

@UKenyatta you should know that the opposition is not in power. comprehension before speaking is helpful. @Oyondi_Malik @JuliusJoho

Some Kenyans, however, defended the President arguing that the Opposition's top brass including their leader Raila Odinga had all been in government hence their legacy could be assessed.

Meanwhile, political pundits have faulted Kenyatta for apparently spending too much time trading barbs with his rivals and engaging in political rhetoric.
