Raila and Joho Appear to Differ on Candidate for the Nyali Parliamentary Seat

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Ali Hassan Joho appear to differ on their preferred candidate for the Nyali Parliamentary seat.

A source privy to the matter indicated that Mr Odinga prefers the candidature of former KTN Journalist Mohammed Ali while  Mr Joho is believed to be rooting for his cousin Saeed Salim.

Mr Salim had earlier stated that he feared that the party nominations process would not be free and fair, allegations Mohammed strongly dismissed.

Salim and the former KTN Journalist are also believed to have caused the abrupt end of the ODM’s mega rally in Mombasa on Sunday, although the top leaders including Raila had already addressed the mammoth crowd.

Speaking to a local daily, Mohammed stated that the difference between him and Salim should not be taken to be personal.

"The differences should not be confused to be personal. Delegates will decide,"  he stated

The celebrated Investigative Journalist also emphasised he joined politics because he felt it was time for the young people to claim their place in the country's leadership.

According to Mohammed, having fought for the rights of Kenyans as a journalist, it was time for him to become a leader so that he can effect the change he had been advocating for.
