Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has cancelled a planned tour of Lamu County just a day before it took place.
Odinga who was scheduled to visit the coastal county to meet ODM delegates is said to have suspended the tour to deal with internal issues within the party.
Despite confirming the Saturday visit, leaders later indicated that it had been postponed at the last minute.
“It is true. Mr Odinga is not coming on Saturday due to unavoidable circumstances more especially concerning issues to do with party nominations,” Lamu ODM coordinator Zahara Shee told the Nation.
Another leader further affirmed that the party leader was concentrating on the nominations, which have been postponed to April 13, before embarking on the tour.
Odinga was set to engage with followers of the party around the county before holding a rally at Mkunguni Square as he seeks to strengthen ODM's support in the area.
This comes as the party postponed its primaries which were to start from April 8, following a directive by the IEBC.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, party Secretary General Agnes Zani announced that the nominations would now be held from April 13 to 25.

At the same time, she revealed that the Orange Party had summoned more than 12 of its members over the chaos witnessed in several meetings across the country.
The leaders, including Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Senators Anyang' Nyong'o and James Orengo, was ordered to appear in person before a disciplinary committee on Monday.
