ODM leader Raila Odinga has sensationally claimed of a plot by the national government to frustrate his supporters in the ongoing voter registration process by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Odinga claimed that the National Registration Bureau has been favouring President Uhuru Kenyatta by ensuring identifications cards (IDs) are readily available in the Jubilee strongholds. ‘
He further claimed that in the CORD strongholds, the bureau has frustrated residents given that millions of ID cards are sent to the wrong stations, making it impossible for them to reach the right applicants.
The ODM leader claimed that IDs in the Nyanza strongholds are usually sent to the Coast region and vice versa.
Odinga alleged that the plot has been orchestrated by Jubilee operatives to ensure there is minimal registration of voters in the opposition strongholds, given that an ID is required for anyone to be registered as a voter.
The former Prime Minister, however, encouraged his supporters to come out in large numbers and register in the registration exercise that starts from 16th January to 15th of February 2017.
