Raila Odinga Treated at Karen Hospital After Food Poisoning

Opposition chief Raila Odinga was Wednesday morning rushed to the Karen Hospital where he was diagnosed with food poisoning.

According to his spokesman Dennis Onyango, he was discharged after treatment and is recuperating at his Karen residence.

Onyango could however not reveal what led to the food poisoning.

Odinga was expected to grace the closing of the fourth annual devolution conference in Naivasha on Thursday but following the unfortunate incident, he cancelled the trip and will be represented by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

The spokesman disclosed to Citizen Digital that the former Prime Minister will tomorrow jet out of the country to visit his daughter Rosemary who is admitted at an undisclosed hospital in South Africa.

Rosemary, 39, was flown to South Africa on February 28 accompanied by her mother Ida Odinga, younger sister Winnie, neurosurgeon Oluoch Olunya and AMREF flying doctors.

Before being flown out of the country, Raila's daughter was reported to be suffering from Meningioma - a non-cancerous and often harmless brain tumour that may cause pressure on the brain and mainly affects middle-aged women.

On Monday, the Odingas issued a statement indicating that the family's position is to treat their daughter's health condition with utmost privacy.
